| I kept noticing the door kept getting harder and harder to open and close. Then I took the vertical plastic covers on the hinge side off and some of the screws were loose. Some wouldn't tighten, so I got bigger ones and they fit, after drilling bigger pilot holes, but now the hinges are binding and making a loud noise. Tried silicone spray but no luck. I don't like those friction hinges. Is there any way to make the door open and close without them? It's so much easier. I know they are supposed to be "friction hinges" to keep the door open in the wind, but I don't plan on getting in strong winds. |

Mine were getting quite stiff after our last winter trip. I used a lubricating spray with Teflon and it seemed to help. I also saw that the door was hitting the frame at the top, so I sanded it down to clear the frame and painted it plus touched up the frame where it was being gouged by the door.

| I experienced this a few times, and always have been able to fix.... Crank down the support jacks on a level surface and make sure they are cranked exactly equal. Allow it to sit a little while and then try the door. It seems that the frame can get torqued pretty easily with the jacks. |

Check the hinge screws on the screen door. A couple of ours were loose and they were preventing the outer door from being pulled shut from the inside.
I've noticed that expansion is pretty extreme with the door when the sun hits it. Ours opens and closes considerably easier in the morning than in the afternoon. |

While I appreciate all the answers, none of them was the answer to my problem. I ended up solving it myself. The holes on the hinges wern't lining up with the holes on the door. So after first taking the plastic vertical outer strips off on either side of the door (the come right off, and I intend to paint them before putting them back) Under them, some loose screws..some, on the hinge side of the door, were stripped, so I got bigger new ones. If they still don't fit, you can just move them about an inch and drill new holes, the plastic strips will cover it. Then, I unscrewed the bottom 2 of the 3 hinges, lined up the holes and drilled new holes. Now it works perfectly, and is even a little easier to operate because each of the 3 hinges actually has 2 hinges. I only re-attached one of each of those, making the tension on the hinges easier to operate.  ------------- |
