Help! Our Rpod 179 is brand new. We’ve camped in it on 4 trips. The mattress is so uncomfortable. We even bought a 3” gel memory foam topper, but then that doesn’t help much. Has anyone bought a replacement mattress that is comfortable? We’ve seen many online, but are Leary to buy one, as all seem to have some negative reviews. We bought a 10" short queen memory foam mattress last year and it was a big improvement.

We bought this mattress on Amazon earlier this year before we spent 10 days at Zions NP. We love it. They make a 10 inch version, but the 8 is a little more manageable. We replaced our factory mattress in our 179 with the Nu Form Quilted Euro Top 9 Inch RV Queen from Overstock. We Love it. I think it's better then the mattress we have in the house! :)

We replaced ours with a mattress from the Original Mattress Factory. They will build to your measurements. The price depends on which model you choose. It was the best money we have spent for the pod. ------------- Dpod56 |

You must have better backs than I. I decided to replace ours after 3 nights on it, it was terrible. Anyway I purchased a EuroTop Mattress (June 2011) for our 177. It was pricey in my opinion, about $ 325.00, BUT is extremely comfortable and here it is 6 plus years later and just as comfortable as the day we received it. | We bought a great mattress from Northwest Bedding in Spokane, WA. The short queen mattress was custom made for us...ordered on Sunday afternoon, picked it up Wednesday afternoon. This mattress fit perfectly and sleeps wonderfully. |

We got a foam mattress topper from Costco and put it on top of the factory mattress. Made a significant difference and for right now it's just fine.....although it is a pain removing for winterizing! | We bought one of the suggested foam mattresses from amazon and it is a NO GO. It's not firm enough and my husband usually ends up spending part of the night propped up sleeping on the seating area of our 179. We will not buy another mattress without an opportunity to test it first. |

We disposed of our OEM "mattresses" and bought a piece of 4" seat cushion foam (blue) and my wife made a cover for it. If you like a firm bed, it is super comfortable. We cut it to fit the space (I had previously removed the upper bunk of our 172 and widened the bed below by raising it about 8"). And the cost was much less than a conventional mattress. Supposedly it's a foam that has a service life of about 15 years, so that will be plenty of time for our Pod use. As I'm sure everyone knows, custom cut foam comes in different densities and thicknesses, so it's easy to get just the "comfort level" you like without breaking the bank or adding unnecessary weight. Does the mattress that goes in an R-pod get done at the dealer? Reason I ask is because the mattress in our R-179 is 7" thick and is pretty darn comfy, such that we've never thought about replacing it. I've heard some complaining that the mattress is only 3" thick.
