The far back is a good place to put your chairs, rugs, fish poles or any other long items that can be reached even when pushed to the other side

I use the awning pole or the jack handle to reach item in the back. I put my water hoses and electrical cord in round plastic containers and push them to the back. Hook them with the awning pole and slide them forward. I keep all the small stuff up in the front.

I found 3 Sterilite 12 gallon tubs fill the area nicely and hold everything we need. They are 23.5 long, 18.5 wide and 19.25 high. I was disappointed to discover my folding chairs were too big to fit on top of the tubs, so I used a couple bungee cords to strap them to the table. After a couple trips we ditched the table, so the chairs now ride on the couch and are well secured by the table strap. A bag chair may fit on top of there tubs though, don't have any to do a test with because my back doesn't like them.

All good ideas, plus consider adding stuff sacks to the mix. You can buy or make your own in a variety of sizes, colors and either solid or mesh fabrics. They allow stuffing things into otherwise empty or hard to fit spaces, and you can add "leashes" to be able to pull them out. Or use a tool to pull them out. I'm big on color coding, everyone has their own thinking on that but the point being you can use them in a variety of ways. Backin15's recommendation for the 3 Sterilites is great too, stuff sacks allow you to stuff in and around tote boxes and other hard-sided items.

Build a drawer that goes all the way back yet easily reachable from the front.

Won't work very easily...the door opening is not totally lined up with the longer part of the storage for the most part.  When I put my storage boxes in, I have almost snake them in to the back.
