Hi, About to do a trial camping near home. Have small drip from fresh water tank plug under tank. Plumber's tape or what? Thanks!

Welcome!

That would be a good first step. Sounds like you know your way around plumbing, at least a little bit.

How old is your cat? We travel with three kittens, two about 9 months old and the other about 6 months.

Welcome to the group! Congrats on your 171. I do and have used the plumbers tape.

Hi, Glad to have this forum and the Pod. Just a little plumbing knowledge to make me realize I need to ask questions. Thanks for the reply. I have an old kitty, stray, about 13-15 years with medical issues. Hopeful that she can join me for awhile. Glad to know not everyone has a dog - but maybe in the future...

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the trial run. Plumber's tape wins, which is good to know. Will be camping near a dealer who can service under warranty if all goes downhill.

There should be a rubber washer in the drain cap, similar to a garden hose gasket. Make sure it's in there. Also, the drain plug caps for the hot and cold lines also have rubber gaskets.

They could fall out when taken off, and maybe not notice when putting back on, resulting in a drip or leak.

Oh, Great info. I'll check the size out and get some anyway. I have the trailer in a storage place, so is hard to check out anything until I can get it hooked up at a campground. Thanks!

I removed my cap and put a valve on the drain, no more removing cap everytime I drain. Available at Lowes.

Did this just screw in? I just emptied what looked to be a full tank of water the dealer put in, unknown to me. I'm taking the plug with me and will see if they have valves. Since I will store the trailer at times, I agree it would be nice to just turn a valve when emptying and sanitizing. Thanks!

How much lower is  the valve than the plug? I would be worried about clearance issues if it stuck down too much,

Couple inches - above axle - I have no issues, and much more convenient. Yes it screws on to current drain port. Pretty common mod for TTs.
