THAT'S is very nice. My wife will have me building one "tomorrow ! I am working on the "extra" space, above the radio. Lots of room, and lot's of wires. Radio come's out, Use a "Torx" bit, remove ant jack on top of radio, set radio on counter. Start "framing" a "shelf" above radio. Will have "lot's" of Pics.

I moved my radio up into the empty space and finished out the inside of the bottom. I use it to hold all the crap that comes out of my pockets every day. Dang, Wish I'd seen this before I went into "cabinet making" mode on my mod. Duh.. Just move the radio UP. Brilliant ..... Also, Looks like you put a nice "patch" panel on the side ? Also, I just noticed You have a different model Pod than I do. Don't think it would work on my R171.

Ya, I have a 180 and all I had to do was move the wood piece that was above the old radio location up a couple of inches, and I have lots of extra pod trim pieces left over from all my other projects that I used to finish out the inside. I was going to make a door for it but it has a USB port in it and that's where I plug in my phone and use as a catch all for things I use every day.

| You can move the radio up on a 171. You just have to clean up the wiring. I did it on mine. |

Georged, I completed the project before I saw these posts. The wife is happy, so i'm exonerated. Just finish putting in a "hatch" under "driver-side" settee seat.
