Would not having a battery connected to the trailer when it if plugged in to 120v AC cause a problem with the on board battery charger system?

Should be OK. No battery = no charging. You may not have any 12V power, but I haven't checked it myself.

No problem with the on board charger/converter but it may not be good for any electronics running on the 12V system. The converter puts out some really dirty voltage and relies on the battery to filter it. Electronics like cell phones and computers may not like it. No problem for lights or fans.
