Howdy,

We bought a 2018 178.  We've been looking at small campers for almost 10 years and finally bought.  We almost purchased an aliner - I think we couldn't have gone wrong either way.  Though, after our first long weekend of glamping in the POD we are very excited to make the purchase.

Its just 2 of us and our 60lb dog.  I'm 6'2', its more cozy than I imagined.

I race cars and we love to hike.  Hoping the POD gets us closer to the action.  A few lessons learned from our first outing -

  • Be careful maneuvering the POD on uneven ground.  Its easy to drag and damage the load leveling jacks
  • Campground folks are super approachable and helpful!  A complete stranger helped me flush my tanks for the first time!!!  I have to pay it forward!!!
  • On the 178, the bath makes a much needed closet when not in use.
  • THERE IS A LOT TO LEARN!  Though, I've learned to let go and enjoy it - not worrying about the mistakes that will be made.
Excited to join the group,
PPod

Glad to hear you had an uneventful shakedown camping experience with your 178.  Hopefully you will make and have many joyous memories with it.  We have certainly been blessed with our 177 for the past 6 plus years.

My wife and i also purchased a 2018 178. We LOVE it! With my drive on leveling wedge and drill adapter for the stabilizers, I am set up and disconnected in under 10 minutes. This is sooooo much better than the old hybrid trailer we started with!

Me too - Got my new 178 late last fall - took some local "shake-down" trips (parked on my daughter's driveway in Gainesville for a week....(plugged into a 120 outlet with 30 Amp cable adapter and got my AC working...no sweat.)

So took our first long trip late June-Early July....pulled my R-Pod with my 2006 Chevy Tahoe V8 5.6 - 18 days out...first from home in Orlando, FL to Blufton / Hilton Head, S. Carolina...overnights in Roanoke Rapids RV Park, nice then onto to KOA in West Chester/Philly, PA....very very nice...

then onto to Battle Row Camp Ground, Bethpage State Park, Long Island, NY...several days - then drove North Shore to Orient Point - loaded Tahoe and R-Pod on ferry across LI Sound to New London, CN..drove up thru RI to south of Boston area - Wompatuck State Park...visited Boston...then drove through VT up to Montreal KOA....then to Quebec City...then back through NY State to Princeton, NJ  - then onto Charlotte, NC (run down KOA)...then back to Orlando - 4109 miles roundtrip.

We scheduled to drive no more then 6 hours each leg so we get to the next stop at mid-day early enough to see some sights that day...early starts makes the difference - we did do a couple of 10-11 hours runs....too long...

My only advise for travelers using either the PA or NJ Turnpikes - get an EZ Pass...Tolls are expensive - $38 bucks NJ across the Varranzano Bridge...

Now back in Orlando and will do short trips to KOAs / RV Parks on East and West Coasts.  The R-Pod 178 is the best choice for the feel of spaciousness end to end.  Happy Travels to you R-Pod-ers out there..
