Subject: Quick Convec Micro Question
Date Posted: 16 Aug 2017 at 10:33am
Our pod is plugged into 15A power just to keep things charged.

Looking around with all electric off, I hear a buzzing sound from the micro.

When I open the door to the micro, there is for sure a sound coming from there as it gets louder.

It is not the light bulb.

Could someone tell me if this is normal?

No. Unplug it.

Just a quick update: I unplugged it and the sound stopped. Plugged it back in, sound came back.

Sound description: Pretty faint, but noticeable for sure when you open door. It sounds like air escaping, or the light electric sound of a small fan. Also could be compared to the sound of turning on propane and hearing it flowing before lighting.

My guess is the cooling fan is running a bit, but shouldn't be. If under warranty, get it swapped out.. if not under warranty.. swap it out.  Wink

I wonder if it is running because it is so hot in the unit itself (AC OFF IN FLORIDA).

I believe you are referring to the inverter? I am talking about the convection oven.

I just spoke with Forest River, they said it should not be making any noise.

They said it could be "Dirty Power", which is possible, since I am hooked up to a 15a circuit right now. (even though nothing is running)

A 15 amp connection is no more dirty or clean than a 20 or 30 amp connection. If your microwave is making a noise, it could be dirty power, or it could be something else. The 15 amp connection should be irrelevant.

If you are talking to me.. No, I am talking about the MW. It has a cooling fan that kicks on when baking, or even nuking if it gets hot enough in the enclosure.

It should make no sounds when not in use, or not having just been used. Have you used it at all? Is this a new Pod? or new to you?

And "dirty power" has nothing to do with the amperage. If it was a dirty power issue of any type, it would manifest itself while being used. Not when off.

Brand new. We used MW once, it did seem to work.

Yep. Will do. Just a pain. We have a trip scheduled in a few weeks. Hopefully it will still work.

If you're absolutely sure it's coming from the microwave, then replace the microwave.

The fan in the electric panel turns on once you plug into shore power and it's to cool the converter.

It has to be the microwave or something right behind it. When you open the door, it gets louder. Dealer is ordering a new one.
