I just bought a new Colorado Z71. I have been pulling my Pod with my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. When I bought the Pod the Load/Sway was setup for the Wrangler. My question: Is the sway/load control setup for the trailer only or does setting it up involve the tow vehicle also?

If you use the same WDH and if you set the shank and ball so the trailer is level the WDH settings should be very close. The settings are more a function of trailer and trailer loading than the TV. try it on the new truck and see how it feels. Going from a short wheelbase Jeep to a longer WB truck works to your advantage.

It depends on which WDH you are using. Check the mfg. installation details to get it dialed in correctly. Most instructions talk about getting the trailer level and then measuring the heighth of the front and rear wheel wells before and after the trailer is connected. You should be able to bring the tv almost completely back to the pre- trailer heights once you have adjusted the WDH properly. The longer wheelbase on the new tv will be beneficial . It should pull easier, be better balanced and less chance of sway once the hitch is set up . It may take more than one time to get it right. Measure the height of the ball compared to the two vehicles. If they are the same, you MIGHT not need adjustment. But the weight distribution part of the adjustment might need fine tuning. As others have said the wheelbase can require new adjustment, and the new tow vehicle suspension firmness can also affect how much weight is being transferred to the front axle. You should start at the beginning and run through the setup procedure again. | You can always have separate shanks and heads for each TV. The bars and A-frame brackets would be reusable. |
