Who said not to jack on the axel?  My instructions say (and I've done it many times on other trailers built just like this one with the same axel) to jack on the axel.

Look in my mods and you will see a block I made for jacking that cradles the shape of the axle but the weight is on the brackets that mount the axle to the riser block. That avoids any problems. I recently used it to lube my hubs.

The axle manufacturer says not to jack on the axle, the frame manufacturer says not to jack on the frame.. It's in the Pod paperwork..

For what it's worth, the documentation that comes with the Pod does indeed say not to use the frame as a jack point, and the documentation for the axle says not to use it either.  I guess the best thing to do is never have a flat. Or buy one of the 12v RV levitationizers available on Amazon, but they're expensive....

StephenH's suggestion for a block to spread the weight a bit is good, and I agree, jacking the axle under where it attaches to the frame is best.

hmmmmm, my dealer jacks on the axle about where it meets the frame. I saw this and said" i thought your not supposed to jack on the axle" , he said, " i jack close to where the axle meets the frame" as if that makes a difference. He used no block, just a normal floor jack. Doesnt mean its right, just what he did

My mechanic uses a floor jack in the spot Stephen H suggests when he does the inspection on the bearing and tires etc
Seems to be good. No problems in 7 plus years of rpods

I've been jacking on the axel (same type as used on the Pod, Torsion axels) for 20 years.  I see no reason not to.  The axel is plenty strong enough for these light trailers and that used to be the recommended spot even according to the axel manufacturer.  My Pod is in the shop right now, so is all my paperwork/manuals (in the camper) but as soon as I get it back, I'll check where I saw the jack points in my manual.  I could swear it said to jack on the axel.  But I might have dreamed that!

I position the jack under the riser bracket

If you jack where the axle attaches to the frame, the axle won't bend. I assume the axle is capable of holding up that much weight without being crushed, which is the only way it could be damaged.

Hello,

With regards as to where to PLACE the jack on an Rpod, in my case a 2018 178, should the jack be placed only on the bracket in the attached picture?

Haven't quite figured out how to get the picture to appear (I might not be able to link to OneDrive). Copy and paste these links into your browser.

Sigh, these links may not work. Let me know.

That is the best spot that I could find. You should have received a PM with the specific link showing the jacking block I made to best jack up the pod without putting pressure on the axle tube.

Hi from Bill. Both FR & Lippert tell you different things. You are right you jack under the bracket & put a jack stand between the jack & tire while you do service work & you can relieve pressure on the jack.
