Hi, everyone. First post. :) We are looking to get
an new R-pod. All of the local dealers only have the models with the Thule awning. We would prefer the R Dome. Has anyone successfully removed the awning and replaced it with the R Dome rail system? We can get the model with the Thule awning by this weekend versus waiting 3 months before an ordered one arrives. The other option is driving 7-8 hours to a dealer that does have one, but the savings is only $800ish.
However, that brings up a whole new issue of service and warranty work. I have read too many horror stories about not being able to get things repaired locally if it was purchased somewhere else.

The Thule awning is made in Europe and they sell a
tent attachment. It is rumored FR is going to begin selling it but I think you can find it online and buy it now from a third party. This may be a better option than the Dome.
