The new 179 has so many nice upgrades, one of which is the new shower surround in the wet bath. We've already used it for showers way more times this year vs the wallpaper version in the 171 I used to own. Unfortunately, the surround is coming loose near the door. I did talk to another new 179 owner, when at Yankee Spring in Michigan recently, and they had the same issue. I think it is due to the heat and that our trailers were made (and caulk applied) in the dead of winter.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and if so, what are you doing with it if anything?

Check out "bathroom walls deforming" on his site,I have the same thing with my 178 and so have others... it has to do with the new shower surround materials they're using.

I did an experiment today on the shower surround.  I turned on the AC and set it to 68F.  The current outside temp is 85F.

Once the R-Pod cooled down to about 73 or so, the shower surround near the door jamb and behind the mesh holder contracted enough that I could get the self-adhesive tape to restick and it looks normal.

Forest River is kindly sending me more adhesive tape and plastic rivets.  I hope they fix the issue when the interior is hot.

What does this new shower surround look like? How is it different from the old one?

I believe it's thin ABS plastic.

who did you talk to at Forest River to get the rivets and tapw? I had an email discussion with the warranty folks last month and they pretty much said they hadn't heard of the problem, therefore, they won't worry about it yet. And didn't offer anything to me.

My new 2018 started buckling by the door and pulled loose from the wall when I had 100 miles on it, but it didn't do it all the time it sat in the high heat in AR before I got it.  I think bouncing down the road had some affect?  Anyway, the water pump was never hooked up nor tested at the factory or the dealer and the first night I needed it, it didn't work, so I turned around and went back to the dealer the next day.  The fixed the water pump (hoses hadn't been connected) and put a plastic rivet at the buckle area and re-siliconed it.  Seems fine now.

I emailed Forest River about my issues.

Diana Norris <dnorris@forestriverinc.com>

I received the rivets and double-sided tape yesterday and plan to add more rivets along the area where it's buckling up.

Does anyone know what kind of sticky tape to buy for this fix? Mine is separating behind the toilet on the left corner. I'm not sure how I'll get the tape in there but I wondered if there was an industrial or camper tape that would work or if anyone has a better idea I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

For double sided tape you could use the kind that is used to install grips on golf clubs, that is extremely sticky.  One side has a plastic coating that is peeled off once the sticky side is installed.  Two problems however:  1) this stuff is 2 inches wide - would you have enough room to install it and 2) getting the product - you probably don't have it laying around the house as I do so you would have to go on ebay and order it - last time I bought a roll (2 months ago) it was $ 14.99 with free shipping.
