I plan on building a few interior shelves and such for our 178.
I'm wondering how you who have already done this mount the shelves to the walls?

Is it safe to use short wood screws?
Or must it all be done with double sided tape?

Thanks,
JIM

Devro,

My opinion the two methods you mentioned, both would be weak option. Depending upon the load bearing capability of your shelves and placement. Much experience on this forum with mounting stuff. As an example I have corner shelves in the front of my 178 and a rear shelf over the bed. Both are supported in walls with anchors and both are supported by closet rods that allow me to hang things. I used wire shelves because they are light and storage containers to hold stuff on the shelves. In both cases I used the blind boxes for support. Lot of options.

I have used screws for numerous things, spice racks, mirrors, pictures.  Screw size is important.  Length is pretty much irrelevant, diameter is not.  I use #8 or#10 Screw just long enough to penetrate the 1/8 inch paneling on the pod.  You can augment the screw with double sided tape for added security, thugh I have never done that

Did you use anchors with the screws?

When mounting to interior walls, these are nice. The yellow piece is a tool for removing them.
