I get the whole "Dealer won't fix it if you didn't buy it here" thing but what do you do if you bought an R-Pod and then moved to a different state? Am I expected to haul it half-way across the country for any warranty work? Just curious as fortunately, I haven't had any issues yet.

I would hope it's a circumstantial thing. In your case, you obviously didn't buy it elsewhere just to avoid paying the local dealer a larger sum.

I would go to the "new" local dealer and meet with the service manager and introduce yourself and explain that you just moved to the area and would like to be able to use their service department as you only heard positive things about them.  I doubt they would turn you away the next time you showed up with a real service issue.  Would also not hurt to walk around to sales and meet them as well saying you are thinking about upgrading to a new RV.
