Just installed a rear bumper and sewer line holder. In my quest to not raise the Pod, but stop hitting jacks,( I really like the one step). I scored a trailer bumper at a RV garage sale for $30 and installed it, and then mounted the jacks to it. Got the jacks up 3.5 inches. I used rectangular steel that slides into the stock frame rails and designed it to lock in 2 positions, either tight to the Pod or out 20" so I could play with a bike rack idea I have. Total weight is 34LBS. I saw that the new Starcraft has a bumper like this and that got the squirrels turning. Plus now the sewer line is right next to where the dump outlets are. Stephan, It's all welded, I put a 45 degree angle piece on the end of the 2x3 rectangular stock and then cut a beak in it, so it's welded all the way around the back of the 4x4 bumper where it meets the bumper,, and then 1 1/2" on the bottom so i could have room to mount the jacks. I'll post a good picture next time I'm out at the pod. I added a 3/4 x 2' piece on the bottom so it filled the whole stock frame rail completely. It slides in nice and easy but doesn't wiggle, when flush to the pod the new bumper arms slide in 32". I am drilling 2 holes in the arm and the frame rails for slide-in pins to lock it in place. I don't know if the extension thing will work as planned but I'm going to play with it and see, I would like a platform with bike tire rails so I could just lift the bike up and set it on the rails. May be to much weight, so we'll see. Glue guy, You can see the old spare tire carrier I cut apart for the backup camera mounted in the first picture. I had to take it off to slide the bumper out, If I find I need the ability to extend it, the set up may change. It's a work in progress and I'm sure something will come to me. My spare is mounted under the pod on a BAL carrier. rgds John

Hi John. How was your trip?
I've had the same idea for the rear bumper but I was going to use Aluminium for the weight.
I'm also installed a volt meter with a off/on switch, usb plug, 12v charger for my wife C-Cap by the bed and a off/on switch for the radio so it's not on all the time. The next time you have your pod at home I'd like to come down (with beer) to see how you did your bumper. Rick from Paso Robles with the 179

Rick, Love to see ya! The pod is down on a ranch in AG and I'll have it back up here in a couple of weeks. still need to finish up a few things on the bumper like carriage bolts from the inside to mount the jacks instead of self tappers so the sewer hose will slide in and out, final paint and such. I am building a conservatory onto the main house (built in 1894) out on the ranch and you could just call if your down this way, I'm there every weekday. The trip was amazing, 27 days 19 states, AR, VA & UT were the high points, will be back!  Private message me If you don't have my # anymore.
