| I am doing some dry camping next week. I understand that the gas detector uses 12v power is it a lot? do I need to disconnect it while dry camping? Are there other battery drains I should be looking for? |

I store my pod unplugged for up to two weeks and never have had a dead battery, I know the CO detector takes a little power, but not enough to worry about draining the battery fast. You could get a small battery operated CO and disconnect the stock one, but I would never run with out one. I have 2 G24 batteries and get 4 days no problem. 5 if I'm careful. The only real drains I have is my need for light at night How long are you dry camping ? How many/which type battery(s) Do you have access to a small generator or solar panel to bump up the batteries? Does your tow vehicle charge the batteries while running, (in a pinch). As voisj posted above, you should be ok. We use 2 group size 24 12v batteries that are beginning year 7 of faithful service. They get a good workout when we are in RMNP Colorado in September when night temps are normally in the low to mid 40's up in the Rocky Mountains that time of year. We get 3 to 3.5 days out of each battery and that includes the furnace running a lot at night. We keep the pod at 60 during the night, and keep a couple windows cracked open to keep the moisture levels down. We use our lights a lot but aren't worried as we changed all ours over to L.E.D.s; when we purchased our 177 back in January 2011 they came standard with incandescnt bulbs. The mother board uses some battery so that your furnace, hot water tank and fridge can fire up and run on propane, but that is minimal.
