We are looking at a model 178 and have a 9 year old and 10 mo old. Anyone camp with kids in this model? Looks like it will work ok with the kids on dinnette bed and my wife and I on the bed.

You might consider the 176 also. I think the 9 year old would appreciate having a separate bunk. For the 10 month old, you might need to do some modifications to turn a bunk into a crib. The 179 would have the same issue but would have more storage for baby things under the kitchen cabinets. We have the 179 and I am considering the Futon modification some people have done since rearranging the small cushions to make the dinette into a bed means there are lots of gaps unless one puts a topper over them. The 178's cushions would likely be similar. Children might find it okay, but I would not like to sleep on an arrangement like that.

We have had our 178 for about a year now really like the floorplan. We've been on a number of trips so far with 2-3 grandkids and everything has worked out perfectly. I would suggest that you seriously consider getting an r-dome. We love it, Others dislike it. The r-dome will more than double your living space and well worth the additional investment.
On the down side, storage space in the 178 is limited though there are quite a few mods that you'll find on this forum for getting the most out of your r-pod.
