Hello all:)
I'm considering purchasing the new 2017 RP-180. I live in Alaska and only have 1 dealer up here that sells RPOD's. They are selling a fully loaded RP-180 that includes the awning, 24" LED TV, and Power jack for $22,350. They also said I would need to buy a generator and they sell a Kipor 2000 for $675.00. So, unfortunately living in Alaska you are slightly limited with certain options. One being additional freight for shipping to Alaska. On the MSRP the salesman sent me, it shows the base price at $16,341.50, Options at $6,971.00, and Freight & Dealer prep at $3,800.00, which totals to $27,112.50. The sticker price on the trailer is $24,469.00, so the dealer has dropped it down to $22,350.00. Any thoughts on this?
And thank you in advance:)

Since you live in Alaska and there is only 1 dealer I cannot question the price.  However our closest dealer in NJ (40 miles away) wanted $20,000 out the door and another dealer 90 miles in away in PA wanted less than $16,000 out the door so we went with PA.  These were with every option except bike rack, and included battery, propane fill, no other extra fees. We pick it up next month.  You can look and see if there is a Jayco dealer nearby selling the Hummingbird 17RB or a Winnebago dealer selling the winnie drop 170S.  These are practically clones of the 180 (FR actually sued Winnebago).  They are usually higher priced than RPOD but who knows maybe they will be cheaper in Alaska.  (Once you get a price you can go back to RPOD dealer and try to get a better deal)  You can also search dealers in Wash State.  It may be worth it to drive down and get one in the lower 48 for much less. That being said getting warranty work back in Alaska for an RPOD bought elsewhere may be a problem.  We know of one dealer in CT that absolutely will not touch an RPOD bought elsewhere.  And all the FR brochures state to buy local, not like car buying where most dealers do not care where you bought the vehicle.  Good luck

Real quick interweb check shows 18K to 24K in the lower 48. No gen set. Can't say if good deal or not but not outlandish. Do a google check to see for yourself.

Thanks

Why do they insist you purchase a generator? With a dual 6V battery hookup, you would have plenty of power for boondocking. Your tow vehicle, or AC power at a campground or home would keep the batteries charged. If you want it for off-grid living, then you would need a source of power, either generator or solar. However, you are not required to purchase a generator from them. You can do so if you find that it is the most economical way to purchase one. The new Predator inverter generator from Harbor Freight looks pretty nice--much nicer than the old one. It can also be paralleled with a second one for more power. Shipping weight is 54 lbs, so it could be shipped to Alaska. I don't know how much shipping would be, but I am fairly sure it would be less than the $194 difference in price. I've not heard of Kipor before. It is another brand made in China. It might be good or it might not be. The key thing is whether there is a place available to service it if something should go wrong. For that, a Generac (what I have) or Yamaha, or Honda would be best, but the last two are quite expensive.

Go on E-bay and bring up R-pods. Cheyenne Camper Center in Walcot Iowa sells the 180 out the door for $ 14,800, extra's included. I know, because I bought my 180 in September from them. Came from Arizona to buy it, saved $ 5000, three nights in Motels, $265. Big Savings. Love mine, and a superior Dealer to deal with. NO, complaints. Be up in Alaska this summer.
