The Equal-i-zer 4-way stabilization, the Fastway E2 and the Andersen No-Sway hitches do not require a separate friction sway bar. Stabilization is built into the hitches. In the Equal-i-zer and the E2, the angle of the head and bars combined with the friction of the pivot points and the friction of the bars and the brackets on the trailer tongue provide the stabilization. On the Andersen, the friction of the ball's post in the socket provides the stabilization. As has been noted in another post, the closer the hitch is to the rear axle, the better as the short distance helps minimize the sway. In the case of the Escape, the distance is about 3 feet. Other vehicles like pickups would have the hitch much farther from the axle. We do feel a little "nudge" when passed by a tractor trailer or big panel truck. It isn't bad and I don't have to correct it.

I'm glad I was able to help.

I just finished a couple of more mods which I will be posting to my mods soon. The wonderful thing about the R-Pods is that they almost cry out for the owner to customize things. While I was initially disappointed that my 2016 lacked some of the features that I read were supposed to be part of the 2016 lineup (making mine more of a 2015.5), my improvements have made it so much more. I wish you success on your R-Pod hunt.
