Thanks, pulling with Jeep 4 door JK. Sold low rider. Thought about full timing with fifth wheel but would have to sell house, not sure if I'm ready for that yet.

My wife and I are a couple of years behind you both in age and length of marriage (62 and 40). We picked up our RP179 in December. We are towing with a Ford Escape. We had not purchased our house too long ago, so we definitely would not be looking to sell it, so full-time is not an option. There are other factors also.

We really enjoy our R-Pod. I've made a number of modifications to ours (see link in signature). I'm in the process of making a couple more of them that I want to get done before our next trip. The R-Pod is a great little travel trailer. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we are enjoying ours.

Thinking of camping a few nights as soon as we pick up the pod, but not sure. 500 plus miles from home and not sure what we need.

Not much different than if you were staying in a motel, only once you pick it up, you won't need suitcases. You will have the power cable since it comes with the pod. You should also have a full tank of propane and a battery. Essentially, you will need in addition:

1. Any medical equipment/supplies you may need to carry. In my case, I use a CPAP machine so it always travels with me. I added a 12 volt outlet so I could use it when dry camping. When we are at a campground with electrical hookup, I can use 110V like at home.

2. Fresh water hose. You need one that is drinking water safe. It should state so on the label. If it does not say that, it is not one you would want to use for drinking water. With that, you should get a pressure limiting valve that will keep the water pressure below 50 psi. You can elect to use a filter or not. It is your choice. However, it is best to sanitize the fresh water system before using it. There are both posts here and YouTube videos around about how to do so. I keep all my fresh water hoses and fittings in a plastic tub with lid.

3. Dump hose. If your pod is like mine, don't bother getting one longer than 10' since that is the longest length that will fit in the standard carrier. With that, you may want to carry a short water hose (does not need to be drinking water. I have a green one for black water tank flushing). Keep any sewage related equipment separate from your fresh water equipment. I keep my fittings in a separate plastic box with lid.

4. Linens, blankets, and pillows or sleeping bags per your preference. With that, some towels and washcloths. Don't forget about dish washing items like dish soap, sponges or dish cloths, and dish towels.

5. Food. Unless you want to eat out, you should carry basic food items. If it is not convenient to carry them from home, you can make a stop at a grocery store.

6. With an eye toward your space and weight limitations, anything else you would want to have with you. It really is your choice. You really will figure out these things as you go along.

7. Towing mirrors. If the pod is wider than your Jeep, you should have towing mirrors that xtend out farther so you can see what is happening behind you.

8. A sense of humor and a willingness to be flexible. The journey is part of the adventure. It is different from flying where you are getting to a destination as quickly as possible. Relax and enjoy yourselves.
