Hi All,

I am a new and proud owner of a 179. Picked up on Monday and now camping at Cherry Springs State park in PA. The Pod is named "AstroPod" as I am an amateur astronomer.

The pic is hitched up on the way to the park. BTW: with the WD hitch and sway bar, the camper tows very smoothly with my 2010 Escape. I know there are lots of opinions on tow vehicles and I was concerned that my Escape would be overmatched. But it isn't. That said, of course, I feel the camper and it is noticeable on uphill climbs. But, strangely, it pulls more smoothly than my old pop up did. I don't think I'd want to take this over the Rockies, but for PA mountains, its fine.

So far, so good. but one issue I noticed:
The Jensen stereo, when on Bluethooth mode, has a high hum (E5 for the musicians out there). Other audio (CD for instance), sounds fine. I already put a word to the dealer and they will likely address it. But, anyone else have that issue?

Thanks all!
Elliott

Congratulations! You have a fine looking set up.

Tow vehicles...if it gets you where you want to go and you are happy, does anything else matter?

Congratulations on your 179! We picked ours up in December. A number of my mods (with more to come) are listed in the mods link in my signature lines.
We had a 2009 Ford Escape, but it only had the 4 cylinder engine with a 1500 lb tow rating. We traded for a 2016 Ford Escape SE with 2L Ecoboost engine and factory tow package. It has a 3500 lb tow rating. We're quite happy with the Escape. It tows the 179 quite well with the Equal-i-zer 4-way stabilization hitch the dealer installed.
