Ticks...well, there were LOTS of these guys (along with Dixie and myself) to provide free meals and transportation. This was taken in the Big Meadows campground.

Here are a couple of bonus pictures, taken in 2011, from Skyline Drive:

First, I think this is "Old Rag" mountain

This one I liked, as it shows the shadows of the clouds on Shenandoah Valley below

Here is a picture of the roadway. Skyline Drive isn't too bad at all, IMHO.

On the Blue Ridge, the closer you get to the Smoky's, the more severe the inclines and curves. You'll want some horsepower....and good brakes.

I climbed Old Rag years ago, a bit rugged but I liked it.

We've camped at two places near Gettysburg, Drummer Boy and Granite Hill.  Drummer Boy was right on the main highway (15) so you hear traffic 24/7.  Cunningham Falls is great, we did that last summer and will be back.

Codorus is our "home base" for camping, we've spent many a "let's go camping last-minute" weekend there.  They have a HUGE Halloween bash every year which we support, we've been to 8 of the last 10.  Thousands of kids over 2 nights.

My favorite cg in Shendoah national park is loft mountain. Less crowded than big meadows. The overlook view is excellent. The Appalachian trail runs along the edge of the cg. Had numerous bear sightings. There is a camp store with pay showers. Matthews arm cg is also nice but no store or showers. It is between front royal & big meadows. We are planning to visit it and blue ridge parkway in July with our other camper/ toy hauler so motorcycle can go.
