I have one battery and I want to install a battery disconnect, but yet be able to quickly remove it to store in my garage. First, can you recommend a certain disconnect since there are several to choose from? If I am right, with the disconnect, I will still have to loosen the nuts on the +/- terminals to remove the battery and store it. I hate to loosen the nuts because it sparks. Is this normal since there is a draw on the battery? Should I be removing the negative terminal first?Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately I have to remove the battery because I store it and I worry someone will steel the battery.

Whenever you remove a battery terminal you will get some small sparking. The propane detector is always "on". It can drain the battery if left off a charger for a month. A disconnect switch can prevent that.
You are right to remove it when the camper is stored for longer periods. Just remove it using the nuts. If you want a quick connect coupler between the battery and terminals, you will need one rated for the discharge rate of the battery. Probably something like a trolling motor connector. Maybe this could work. 10 gage wires. http://www.amazon.com/CES-Gauge-Quick-Disconnect-Harness/dp/B0057ZQJ12/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1440018269&sr=8-12&keywords=battery+cable+disconnect

Thanks for answering all my questions. I'll be installing that disconnect and I'll check out the link for the quick connect idea. I appreciate your help.

This is the very reason I used Anderson Power Poles. Same kind of connector used on forklifts etc...
No moving parts and you can pull the battery and reconnect without removing the feed connections. Used this on the Solar Charging Wires.. Good luck Sir.... |

Thank you, Podster. This is exactly what I need! Would you have any pics of your mod to help me with the setup? Or possibly a YouTube link? Thanks I plan to use the solar connection someday too.

OK, good luck! Also, a little dialectic grease (bulb grease) on the plastics of the connector sure make it easier to connect and pull apart.
