How much hose do I need to buy and it appears you put something
 under the bucket to raise the height of the bucket.

I think you may be asking about Maryanne's (A.K.A. marwayne) solution?

In my case, I simply took one of my 25' drinking water hoses (white one), cut about 5 feet from one end and spliced with brass hose fittings. That way, I ended up with a convenient 5 foot piece and a 20 foot piece. A lot of times a five or six foot piece of hose is just right. The clear hose I showed in the pic was just testing before I cut up one of my 25 footers.
