Tomorrow is the big day!
I feel nervous and excited at the same time. My wife and I are taking the 171 out for the first time, and have picked a full service site in northwest Saskatchewan. It's the last weekend for water service in the Park before they shut it down for the season.
It's fairly close to home, about a two hour drive, and we will be travelling with friends and their fifth wheel. I'm sure he will lend a watchful eye and make sure my hookups and everything is correct. With all the help I've received from all of you on this forum, I'm sure I'll be fine.
I may have an issue with the Jeep running out of gas, as there are no stations between here and there...I may have to fab something up near the propane tank for jerry cans.... keeping my fingers crossed.
Stay tuned for pictures!

Good luck, you are fortunate to have an experienced friend along.

Normally when towing I never let the gas tank get below 1/4 full, and in more-remote areas 1/2 full.

well- the only other time I towed it was bringing it home from the dealer (about a three hour trip). I filled up just before hooking up, and as I backed into the driveway the gas light came on!
I just bought 2 twenty litre (5.3 gallon) jerry cans and will strap them around the battery box. Its all part of the adventure.

3 hours sounds about right if the tank is on the smaller side.  Its all about the journey!

So, because I was so nervous about running out of gas, I found a piece of plywood lying around the shop and did this:

and then headed down the highway in Saskatchewan:

Yes, that's an actual numbered highway... Made it to the campground:

Met up with friends whose fifthwheel dwarfed our 'Pod:

The campground was deserted! We were (almost) the only ones there:

We only brought two lawnchairs, and know better for next time:

All in all we had a fantastic weekend! Good company, sing-songs around the fire, nice weather, and even got the canoe and yaks wet! The first outing in the Pod was flawless, and I learned a ton! I'm glad we went with seasoned veterans, though, and hopefully I will retain some of what I learned...
