We bought a Rpod 179 last summer and had no AC. This summer we bought a Honda 2000i and a Honda 2000i Companion. 1 generator will run everything in and on the camper except the A/C at 5200 feet sea level but when ya hook both up in parallel boom ya got A/C and it is very nice no problems so far. I highly recommend Honda a little pricey but A good investment.

It really sounds like your dealer is trying to upsell you on generators.  An AC will not be damaged if it doesn't have sufficient amperage; it simply won't run.

And while the Yamaha 2400iSHC is a great generator for running your AC (I've already noted that I love mine), you won't be able to run anything else of significance at the same time.  For about the same money as the Yamaha or even a bit less, you could alternatively buy two Champion 2 kW inverter generators and get the parallel connector kit for them.  They aren't top of the line generators like Yamaha or Honda, but they are definitely good quality, and I've seen several people use them successfully and really like them.  They certainly get good reviews on Amazon.
