We dry camped for two nights in San Isabella National Forest outside of Buena Vista, just down the road from Browns Creek. Very scenic & quiet.
There was a humming bird that visited our campsite every morning. It would fly through checking for food, I suppose, then fly on.
Then we camped at the KOA in Ouray. Very scenic & a nice place.
The next stop was Pagosa Riverside campground, outside of Pagosa Springs. Our campsite was along the banks of the San Juan River. Very peaceful & relaxing. Beautiful stars at night!
Then we were off to the Central City KOA This a very nice campground with beautiful views of Central City & all of the surrounding mountains! They have hot tubs!
Finally, we stayed at Dakota Ridge RV Park in Golden Colorado. Of all the places we stayed, I was the least excited about this one prior to arriving. I must say that I was extremely impressed! Very clean! Very nice! They also have a built in pool & hot tub.

My ultimate favorite spot to camp in Colorado is Sylvan Lake, it's about 17 miles south of Eagle. No hook-ups, they do have a dump station. Good fishing, if you have a canoe/kayak even better. If you are gutsy, take the road further on down about 10 miles, Crooked Creek/Lime Creek area. No people any where.
