Thank you. I did find the lowest shank that EzE is selling - providing a 9 1/2" drop. I ordered on Amazon and I just got it couple minutes ago. I will set it up on Friday. Here is the pic .... on the left side is the one that came with the WD - on the right side is the new one. 7" difference - I need 9", but I'll live.

Have you checked Etrailer for a larger drop shank? But with your awesome metal fabbing skills, you should be able to throw something together that will work perfectly. If you do fab something, be sure to post photos. You do nice work.

I am using an EzE WD that comes with a 5 1/2" drop. After raising the trailer and leveling it - there is a difference of 9 inches between. Simple as that. My Xterra has nothing in common with the stock one. I do have a custom bumper, different leaf pack and slightly oversize tires. I did order a super low shank - that will help with that - I should receive it today. That will help - still about 2-3 inches difference, but I'll deal with that.

You could add risers to the pod if it doesn't have them.. that would lift your ball/hitch height 3 1/2 inches..

On my 2009 172 ... is right behind the axle. Not too smart. I did order the shank that drops 9.5" - that should get me close to reality - missing 1.5".

If you have the Equalizer or the E2, have you tried this tool?  http://www.equalizerhitch.com/About%20Equal-i-zer/shanksizes.php

On the 171 the fresh water tank is just in front of the axle.  You can see its outline in my sig pic, in front of the wheel to just below the door.

I just spoke with Camco and they suggested one that drops 9.5" (http://www.camco.net/Products/Item?prodID=10838#.U3oBk15ZQV-)
... I'll see how fast I can get it. techntrek - isn't the fresh water tank on the back of the rv?
