Does anyone have any experience with a Sherline tongue weight scale. I'm undecided if it would be worth buying. For the tongue weight I would need to use a bathroom scale and that isn't as convenient as I think the Sherline would be. I have the 4,000 Lb. Equalizer hitch with a 400 lb. tongue weight I am near my limit and do not want to buy a new WDH. If I am careful in loading I believe our current WDH will work. Thank you any help would be appreciated.   David

I have the same problem, I bought 2 cheep bathroom scales put them side by side lay a piece of 2x8 across put the jack in the middle it works pretty god. I compared the scales to our good bathroom scale, there within a 1 pound or 2.

marwayne thank you, your idea sounds good. Do you have the analog or digital scales for your trailer tongue weight?

They are cheep, metal analog scales, I paid 14,00 $ for both of them. No glass top.

I bought two analog scales but I paid a little more both came to $46.00 but I think it will be easier than using one scale and cost a lot less than the Sherline scale.

D and D, My tongue weight is 285 pounds under the jack, then I weight under the middle of the ball it is 275 pound, so the true tongue weight is 3 1/2% less under the ball then the jack.

I have a Sherline tongue weight scale. I use it for my 16' enclosed trailer. It does the job.

When loading the 16' trailer it was important to know the tongue weight. Works using hydraulic pressure.

I ordered two scales from amazon.com when they arrived one was not working properly so I returned it. I decided to use just one scale and use a board and blocks. It's easy to set up and have a scale that I can way individual items. The dry tongue weight including a full tank of propane is 360 lbs. I need to be careful when loading to keep the tongue weight under 400 lbs. which is the limit of our WDH. Eventually we may need to get a 6,0000 lb. WDH so we do not to be that concerned about the tongue weight.

My experience with tongue weight is towing a 10K enclosed trailer. If I had too much tongue weight it tends to lift the front of the tow vehicle. This can make the trailer steer the tow vehicle. Too little tongue weight and the trailer fish tails or wonders back and forth. Either is not fun.

This is not with any load equalizers or a WDH.
