Given the very small space in the RP178 bathroom/shower, I am considering removing the sink as we see no use for it...other than holding TP.

Has anyone removed their sink?

Is there a DIY how to on removing the sink somewhere on this or the other RP forum (I could not find one)?

What is done to cover up the opening where the piping comes out to keep it waterproof (this is the big issue keeping me from doing it)?

I would be interested in hearing pros and cons of removing it before actually doing it.

We removed ours first thing.  We covered uo the holes with some vinyl flooring squares that sort of match.  We also have a faucet with no diverter on order and replaced the shower head with an Oxygenics, which is really great.  There's not a lot of backing in the wall, so once you open it up, you might feel like you should beef things up a bit.  We took the inside corner molding from the opposite corner to patch it up and bought something similar to replace it, as it's behind the shower curtain anyway.  Then LOTS of silicone caulk!!!

We're glad we did it - the shower is much nicer now.

If you contact FR, you can buy and have shipped to you a piece of wall board that matches. Kymooses did it on theirs, looks great.

574-642-3119 ext 209  Lindsay should be able to track you down some wall board.  You might tell her to reference with Susan on how big of a piece she sent to us.

Although I'd recommend measuring your hole you need to patch, no hole would be the same size there I imagine.
