I created this for our Coleman naptha lantern about six years ago when we still had our tent trailer and since then, we've used it almost every time we've camped out.  Usually, there was no good place to sit our lantern and it would end up on the picnic table where it was too low and somewhat it in the way.   What I came up with is very simple and very handy.

Its just what it appears to be: a small wood platform mounted on an inexpensive tripod.  A couple of bungees hold the lantern in place.

I like it!  It seems to be a good "re-purpose" of a tripod.  I used to use a "shepherd's hook" - used for hanging plants, bird feeders, etc.  It just pushed into the ground.   Somewhere along the way, I lost it and need to get another.

I like your awning lights (from another thread), also.  I guess I need to make a trip to Walmart.

Would you believe I still have my "original" Coleman lantern (and cardboard box)?  It was one of my first pieces of camping gear that I purchased, when I was 17 yrs old.  It is a red, single mantle (I don't think they had came out with double mantle lanterns yet).  It, along with my "original" Coleman stove have been retired, in favor of propane devises.  Parts for the "white gas" stuff seems to be hard to find, these days. Ouch
