I cannot connect the hose to the city water inlet. It seems the rubber cover is preventing the threaded section to connect with the hose.

Could you explain more? Are you talking about the cap on the inlet? The large knurled, knob that the hose screws into?

Agreed. we need more information. There is a center portion of the city water connection that just pulls out to expose the threads of the connection. In the center of that there should be a screened washer.
Also, there is another post that is blank with the same subject. Please go and delete that. You can do that from Post options if you do that before anybody replies. Once someone replies though, it locks it so you can't delete it.

Most city water connections look something like the attached picture...... Pretty straight forward.....
