Hey guys,

Happy new year!

As a family of 4, we do use the u-dinette in our 178 as a second bed at night time, and due to the poor quality of the cushions, I am thinking of getting a memory foam topper (3inch?) on top to improve the comfort.

I am sure someone has done this before and what was your experience.

Thanks.

Instead of a topper, you might check a place that cuts and sells foam. You could likely get replacement foam in the cushions that would be superior to what Forest River puts in there.

that's good idea as well. the ones in the cushion unfortunately are pretty bad to start with.

We went to a specialty business that deals with foam exclusively, the business is called "Stuff It Upholstery," kind of a neat play on words.  Regardless, we purchased a foam that is extremely dense and made for very comfortable seat cushions in our 177.  That was 5 years ago and they still perform very well, no wear observed.

I have a 182g  with same table, we don't use the back 3 cushion and have a 3 in foam topper.
in the morning we roll up the foam with all of the bedding against the back wall. we have stretch cords
that hold it in place. Then just pull up the table. the table still sit 4. You can also turn sideways and lean against the beading. the bed sleeps really well.
