Just got to our camping spot for the next 3 nights, was relaxing with a beer and happened to look up at the roof of my 179 and noticed that the top cover to the ac was gone. It must have blown off while driving here. I don’t have a ladder so can’t get up on the roof to take a closer look and to get the model #, serial #, etc. anyone have this happen to them? I assume I can get a replacement cover. Frustrating as we never use the AC (I think I turned it on once). We’ll be home by the weekend and no rain in the forecast, so I should be ok until then. But would like to get the process moving.

I had to replace the cover on our 172 and bought a knock off on Amazon.  It didn't fit and I ended up returning it and buying a Dometic, the brand of AC that was on the roof.  It fits on with 4 screws.  Be careful not to lose the screws.  They have an unthreaded part of the shaft by the large head that allows the plastic to expand and contract.  I lost one in the gravel where my trailer was stored and had a heck of a time finding a replacement.  I lucked out at an RV repair shot where they let me have one from a scrapped trailer.

Thanks for that info, I’ll make sure to look for OEM part. Frustrating because I was just up on the roof and never occurred to me to check the cover screws. And I’m forever tightening up stuff on the rpod; we go down a lot of bumpy campground roads.
