I have 178 model and the brown box has a loud beep. The brown Box has a button I can push to reset it but then in a day or two it is beeping again. Brown box is located near the floor just before you step into the bathroom. Help, I don’t know why it keeps beeping

That brown box is your Carbon Monoxide/LP gas detector. It is beeping because it is at its end of life. You need to replace it. Your current one probably looks something like this:  https://www.amazon.com/MTI-Industries-20-441-P-WT-Alert-Propane/dp/B000FLLWGA/ These detectors are only good for 60 months (5 years) from the time of first activation. If it is older than that, count yourself lucky. You will only be able to temporarily silence the alarm. Replacing it with a new one is the solution.

When the one that was in our 179 went bad, I replaced it with a flush-mount model that was better because I kept hitting the other one and knocking it off the wall. This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/Safe-T-Alert-MTI-Industries-35-742-BL-Battery/dp/B009XTZ0XQ/ . It required enlarging the hole to be able to sit flush with the wall, but it was at least not sticking out anymore.

We have the same CO/LP gas detector as StephenH, replacing one that expired last month.  Got it from Home Depot.  Our original was a smaller flush mount model that was unavailable when I needed it, so I got the one with a slightly wider base, requiring a small modification of the hole.

Keep in mind that when you replace the detector, it's hard wired into your 12v system.  You'll need to cut the wires to install the replacement.  Be sure to pull the fuse to the detector or turn off power in the 12v system first (that includes disconnecting the AC if it's connected).  Also, note the original installation may not follow the red/black DC wiring convention that you'll see on the replacement detector.  One easy way not to get confused or get positive/negative mixed up is to cut the wires at where they exit the old unit and use some compression connectors to connect the new detector to the old wires.  I used spade connectors so the next time I have to change the detector, it'll be just a simple task of unplugging them, installing the corresponding spade connector on the new unit, and plugging it in.  The manufacturer makes a hard connection to avoid people from easily disconnecting detector so they don't kill themselves by eliminating the warning sound and light in the event of a leak.  I think most people are sensible enough not to do that if they have replaced the unit using the method I described.

Thank you one and all. I will check with hubby and see if we can do it ourselves. Our Rpod 178 is about 7 yrs old, got a little longer use out of that detector. We have a forever warranty in Post Falls Idaho but Blue Dog has changed hands, missed a few things at our last annual service. Thank you again

You may not find the CO/LP gas detector covered by your warranty.  It has a stated life span of 5 years.  Like tires and brakes, it is subject to periodic replacement.  Don't be intimidated by the process of swapping  out the old detector for a new one.  It's easy.  You can probably find a direct replacement on Amazon or from an RV supplier.  If you can work a wire cutter and crimper, and are able to remove and replace the fuse while you do the changeover, then there is no reason why you need to pay someone else to do it.  On the other hand, since it is a life safety matter, if you are not comfortable doing it yourself, at least you will have the peace of mind that it is probably correctly installed if you pay a dealer to do it.

Technically, that's probably the cause. There are lights on the face of the detector and some text explaining what the alarm means according to the lights.

Given the age, I am pretty sure my first post is correct.

"Replace your detector" is a kneejerk reaction when there are several causes of the detector beeping. Not just here, but in every social media thread where the subject arises. IMO the remedy shouldn't be stated categorically before knowing what the full indications are.

Age>5 years, beeping that when cancelled starts up again, even when there is no cause such as leaking propane, CO, use if aerosol products, and indicator light lit for EOL = replace detector.
