Sepration of body seams

This is actually a good story, because I didn't buy the R-Pod in question. After months of looking, I recently came into possession of a very good condition 2017 178 model R-Pod. I am privy to all the things to look out for, and pretty resourceful kind of person who knows how to take care of things. In spite of all the things to watch out for in the R-Pod, I really like the general layout/design if the 178 R-Pod. A little on the cheap side? Yeah,...but there are much more expensive RV's in this size range that also have issues. It pays to become educated and enjoy what you can get out of it. My friend bought a new Airstream about the same size as the R-Pod but he paid three times the price. Anyway, during my search I came across a very nice looking R-Pod that was at a very good price. During the negotiations the seller informed me that there was a little damage near front of the unit but everything still worked fine. When I examined pictures of the damage a little closer I decided to pass even though the price was 30% lower than average. In the front of the body the main seams running down the left and the right side near the bottom of unit were split,..(coming apart). It appeared the separation of the seams traveled up about 15-18 inches. I came to the conclusion that this would be a very expensive thing to have properly repaired and decided not to take the risk. I have no idea how this damage occurred, and the sellers weren't offering any thoughts on that either. After thinking about it for awhile, my only thought was that maybe the trailer popped loose from the tow Vehicle hitch while moving and the front of trailer slammed down on the ground with enough force to cause separation of the seams on the body (both sides). Any thoughts??

A good chance of water infiltration that has worked its way down to the front corners, rotting the luan and other wood components in those corners.  Once that occurs, the 1" screws that hold it all together come apart, and end up with the scenario you just described.  As LA said, "a wise decision to avoid that trailer." I agree.
