I have stupid fingers sometimes-sorry for the blank post. I have a cheap HF AC/Dc voltmeter and it has served me ok so far. I am ready to upgrade. I am looking for a AC/DC meter with clamp features. i see them from $30-150. Can anyone give me a recommendation for a reasonable quality meter that will work for my occasional needs. i would prefer to spend less than $50 if possible. Thank you Travel often and safe Vann

This one has served me well, but it's $130. I don't think you'll find a clamp-on meter that supports DC current for much less than that. AC-only models are less expensive.

I got this one from HD. It's right at $100. Works well.

Sorry to disagree but my recommendation is to just get an inexpensive sub $40 AC/DC clamp (be sure it has a Hall Effect DC clamp on) on from Amazon. The generally now come with capacitance and temp probes as well. They work just fine for the occasional uses we make of them I have 3 now which I keep in different toolkits (home, vehicle, airplane hangar).
No need to spend the money on a high end name brand unless youre a professional electrician. Look at the customer reviews and pick one with lots of positive reviews. I've very very rarely been unhappy with using that process and when I have I just return the item.

This is like the one I got at Home Depot:
It works well and has come in handy at times when I needed one. |

I have a different model, very similar, by Southwire. It was about the same price. I got it at Home Depot (I think) and I've been very happy with it. TT
