We are seeking advice.
We have a 2017 Rpod 171.  (Green)  We live in South Carolina.  The AC quit working in June when we were camping in SC.  It would try to kick on but never did.  The fan motor is broken according to the mechanic at Camping World in Charleston, SC.
They suggested the replacement of the AC unit which would cost 1,800.
The other option would be to replace only the fan motor for $800 they said.

We have had the RPod for 2 years and the previous owners did not use it very much.

Thanks,Smile

Sounds like you might live near the ocean. Is there a lot of corrosion on the a/c unit or does the shop think that's why the fan motor failed? If so you might want to replace the whole unit. If not then you're probably better off just replacing the fan motor.

The motor itself is only about $125 BTW.   They are charging you a ton of $$ to replace it. If you are handy you could replace it yourself. Here's a DIY video.

That's quite a pricy repair. How much is the part?  If you are reasonably handy, the fan motor is pretty accessible and shouldn't be too hard to remove and replace.  I looked up a hypothetical Dometic 13,500 BTU ac fan motor and they seem to go for about $150.

I would suggest avoiding Camping World. They are sky high on everything. Even their sale prices are not good. Try to find another shop to help you, unless you can do the work yourself.

I've replaced 2 A/Cs on somebody else's RV and while it was a 2-man job (one on roof, one inside)  It is very nearly plug and play.  The new 13,500 BTU units were just under $1000 at the Dayton Gander RV.
