My condolences on the loss of your wife. I lost mine suddenly a little over a year ago and I think I know how you're feeling. My best advice is to start attending R-Pod rallies in your area. The group that attends most of the rallies that I go to has become a second family to me.

First, my condolences to you and your family on the loss of your wife.

Second, congratulations on your new-to-you RPod.

Third, this forum has been invaluable. One hint on effective use. When you want to search, use the advanced search function. That lets you expand the date range for your search beyond the six-month default. Some things you want to find are much older, but the information is still valid and valuable.

We've had our 2020 Rpod 196 for about two years now. We just got back from our first long trip from Houston to Central Michigan about 3500 miles all together. Could not be happier with the Ford Ranger pickup performance or how the trailer pulled. We average 14.6 MPG and never had any issues. Looking forward to our next long trip. Currently deciding between Glacier Park or Maine.

Welcome to the forum, jsoper. I am so sad to hear about the loss of your wife. Hopefully your travels in the rpod will help you find peace.

As all have said, all RVs need continual maintenance. Something we did early on which has been very helpful for us is we bought an nice log book that we keep in the RV. There we log notes about our adventures as well as maintenance reminders and notes on maintenance performed. It helps us stay on top of things like, the last time bearings were repacked or when the hot water heater was flushed and stuff like that.

All the best.

Have a great trip.

White mtns are still pretty close to the big cities, might want to try the Adirondacks. The extra couple hours drive time probably thins things a bit.

We found a lot of NF campsites available in WV at the typical NFS prices. but that was pre Covid. Not sure how busy it is now. There is dispersed camping available as well. Never had any difficulty getting in and out with the rpod. That's about 4 or 5 hours from the nearest big cities as well, but probably 8 or 9 hours from where you are.

We're taking off on our 3rd camping adventure tomorrow.  Heading to the north end of the White Mountains National forest.  Sun - Tue. I have to be back and ready to work on Wed. because we've started framing two more Habitat houses and I don't want to miss out on the back aches and the chance to hit my thumb again with my framing hammer.  Based on our recreation.gov experience, the federal campsites here are pretty dear and mostly for tents and fill up quickly.  There just isn't much public land in New England.

Yes Welcome! So sorry about your wife, and so young. She would want you to enjoy the places you used to camp together so I'm sure you are honoring her memory by revisiting them.

LA, I also miss the CA campgrounds and parks we used to visit, especially the high country of Yosemite and the central coast redwood parks I worked in summers while in college. But we've been on the East Coast now for a long time, and find we have developed our favorites here than we want to visit again as much as the ones in the West. The East Coast parks seem to be less crowded too, but that could be my imagination.

Welcome to the forum jsoper.  I join jato in offering condolences for the loss of your wife.  It is a terrible loss that words cannot explain.  I hope, as time goes, on you will continue to heal and find comfort in her memory.  Certainly camping in the mountains of the west will help.

Being so ideally located in Napa, your choices for finding beautiful places to recover your feelings and find your way for the future are unlimited.  Having spent almost all my life in California, I have to say there is a giant hole in my heart for my loss of access to the wilds of the Sierra, the north coast, and the deserts after our move east.  It's beautiful here too, but just not the same.  I am sure that as time goes on you will discover or return to favorite spots and slowly but surely fine peace in accepting your tragic loss.
Never leave footprints behind.

Welcome to the forum John.  I am saddened to hear about the passing of your wife, you will be in my prayers.  Totally agree with your thought concerning being in the wilderness with plenty of solitude, a good place to get your thoughts organized, prioritized, and in order.

I have benefited greatly from this forum many times since joining.  It is your 24/7 owners manual.  You can search on past posts and if unable to find, start a new thread and there will be those who have had the experience of that issue and can walk you through to a probable solution.  There is maintenance that is necessary on any travel trailer and this is a great destination to start from to gain the information needed.
