Last year in June I ordered a Dometic CRX-1110E/F from Boat and RV Accessories (boatandrvaccessories.com). It arrived and I replaced the failed refrigerator with it. Last Thanksgiving, I went to use it to store extra items that would not fit our house refrigerator and noticed a crack in the floor. In December, I contacted Dometic and was told I needed to take it to a service location. Dometic gave me a list of service locations. One of them, Shaw RV of NC is not very far from me. I made an appointment, and finally was able to get that appointment today, February 18th. The service manager took information, took a picture of the crack, and the receipt information.

I was pleasantly surprised, not so much that Dometic is covering this, but with the speed of the response. I was told that a new refrigerator would be shipped to Shaw RV direct from the factory. The manager said it would likely take a couple of weeks to get here. It is possible that the information I submitted when I initially contacted Dometic meant that they were just waiting for the service department at Shaw RV to submit the claim and the determination had already been made from the picture and information I had sent previously.

I will update this when the refrigerator arrives and is installed.

Update: I got a call from Shaw RV  saying the new refrigerator has arrived.  I have an appointment to take it in to get the refrigerator changed next week. The reason for using Shaw RV is that they are a Dometic service center and close to us. Even though they are not an RPod dealer, they have been very helpful, first for the axle, and now for this.

Is that the large fridge - the 2 way that is being installed in all the larger pods?  I bet that is fun changing out!  Even my little guy the 3 way took a good couple hours to change out.  Not only is it a tight fit but the four holding screws around the perimeter gave the most grief as 3 of them were stripped and the only way to remove those were to take a hacksaw blade and carefully cut them out.

No, it is the roughly the same size as the original. In fact, it is a bit shorter, but deeper, so I had to build a platform to fill the excess space. I could have filled it in on the top end, but raising it means not having to stoop over quite so far to get things out.

What are the differences between this and the 8501 original.  Looks like this is a compressor fridge?  How does the power consumption/requirements vary from the 8501.  Just replaced my original back in September 2020, not looking to do that again for awhile, that is quite an investment for such a small unit.

Ok I just was on their website.  Guess that wouldn't work for me anyway as it doesn't have the propane option?  I normally boondock and do not utilize a generator so this wouldn't work as far as I see for the camping style I am used to.

It is one of the reasons I upgraded the power in my 179 to the 200AH LIFePO4 battery. I only have a 100W solar panel. I need to increase my solar capability. However, I do carry a generator and can use it to recharge if we are boondocking. With the compressor refrigerator, it does get colder much faster and is able to keep things cool even when it gets hot outside. It does, as you state, come at the cost of sacrificing the extended boondocking capability of the propane option. However, we have found that we are able to work with it for the boondocking we have done. Most often, that is overnights. Occasionally, it involves more than one day, but not that often.
