Last fall we moved to the East Coast.  As we explore the area we're finding that our Garmin and phone based GPS systems often route us on roads which are restricted to "autos" only.

Does anyone have a suggestion on navigation applications in which one can filter out roads and routes that won't allow a travel trailer?

Thanks in advance to all.

Hello lostagain. I don't have a specialty GPS, but have you looked at a gps that is designed for semi-trucks? I have seen them before in stores and online. They are a bit more expensive but would keep you off routes that are car only.

Good luck in your hunt and have a great day,

We use our Garmin 2757M, have used it up and down the coast without any problems.

Garmins are by far the easiest GPS to use; I recommend them. Garmin makes a dedicated RV unit and one has a 10" screen! They are pretty new, so I didn't find and discounts in a quick search. For now maybe you can add avoidance. My 2595 allows custom avoidance, even

Thanks for the suggestions.  My Garmin is quite old and doesn't have the option to avoid car only roads and weight limit bridges.  I looked at the new Garmin RV versions, the 6" in particular, and it looks perfect, but is a little above my retirement budget.  The phone applications, like TogoRV look like they'd do the trick but it's $50 per year or $20 a month.  I may end up getting the Garmin since it's a known entity and I have had good luck with them already.
