Fellow Podder's if your camper happens to have this awning and your unfortunate enough to need a part be aware most parts are not available! I found this out the hard way when on a recent camping trip we had a large limb from a tree come crashing down onto the awning and bent one the main extending arms that folds up into the awning carrier. This is not to the two adjustable stabilizer arms that you can extend from the awning to your camper or the ground which is available if you need to replace one. After contact Thule I found out that Lippert handles the awning for them and so I contacted Lippert. I am shocked to find out you have to purchase a whole new awning and that you can not just get this vital part from Lippert or Thule. So now my fingers are crossed that A. I can get a new awning from Lippert and B. my insurance will cover the damage since were talking over $1K plus for the awning and installation. So be aware!

In the near future I might have  good used Thule 5200 LCI parts available! Ouch

Hello DavMar,

How did the repair/replacement of awning go?

I too am now in this situation. Awning busted, no parts, no replacement from dealer or Thule. Seems the Omnistor 5200 was a European awning and nothing is available here to fix.

Did you find an awning? What did you go with? I could use some parts if you have them!

Thanks,

ICSOPRIS

Hello icsopris,

Sorry to learn you have found out what I did when it comes to repairing a Thule awning. Since Forest River decided to use this awning they should of made sure repair parts are easily available but sadly as found out that is not the case. Shame on them! And double shame for Thule farming out their awnings to Lippert to handle.

I ended up getting a Thule Crown 5200 TH 12V awning installed which is an electric awning. That is a nice step up for me having it electric but the step up in price from a manual operated awning was a bit of a shock. Thankfully my insurance company paid for all damages with no deductible out of my pocket.

As for having any spare parts I thought seriously about getting and keeping the old awning but then I figured it would be sitting around the house forever. My wife say's I have enough junk so all I saved from the old awning is the handle crank and extension legs. Sorry, wish I could be of more help.

AH, thanks for the reply and I'll look into that Thule Crown 5200 TH 12V awning. Looks like a sweet upgrade.

I hope you saw my recent posting. If not the repair went well. I bought a right flex arm from Aussietraveler for just under $500 US. The repair wasn't particularly difficult, but the pictorial instructions were woeful inadequate. If you decide to do the repair, I can certainly give you tips to make it go better.
