I tow multiple trailers, the adjustable hitch allows me to accommodate that without changing "stingers".

I like the adjustable hitch idea. The HRE's are a little taller, and I saw one come with a 2" lift, altho I am not sure how that happened. The care and thought you are putting into this will pay off big time over time. :-)

Difficult to answer as we don't know the height of the bumper on your F-250.  The main thing is that the nose of your 176 will be 1" or so lower than the rear - better tracking and reduce sway.  After getting it home you can fine tune it so you have 11 -12% weight on the tongue for best performance.  Hopefully you have a couple stingers or an adjustable one that you will bring with.  2 inch ball.

Mine came with 14 inch wheels but the HRE's have always had 15's. After changing to 15 inch wheels I think mine is pretty close to the HRE version now.

Make sure he takes the time to get the trailer parallel to the ground first or the measurement will be off. He can tape from the bottom of the sidewalls to the pavement and back. If your hitch is a little high to start with its OK, the truck will squat slightly when you hang the trailer on it. You might want to just get a couple of drop hitches and return the one you don't end up using.

Thanks for the post.  I think the Forest River version trailers have  bigger tires, so maybe 20 inches to the top of hitch is correct.  I'll contact the owner of trailer to see if he can measure the trailer for me.

Mine isn't sitting on flat ground where I can measure it right now but IIRC its around 20 inches to the bottom of the ball pocket. I have risers and 15 inch wheels. Maybe someone else has a better number.

I'm picking up a new to me rpod 176 tomorrow.  it is a hood river edition.  Any one know how high my hitch should be, as measured from the top of the ball to the ground?  I think my current hitch might be two low.
