Hi all.  Picking up new 2018 Rpod 179 in a couple of weeks.  Sent info about extended warranty that covers any FAILURE on a list of items.  2500 price tag.  Just wondering if any of you felt getting an extended warranty was worth the cost?  I plan to have the unit serviced each year no matter what.  This particular warranty has 100 deductible and is good for 5 years from date of purchase, so it's really only good for 4 years after manufacturer's warranty.

Welcome, 2012   177 owner here. Bought our pod new. As you have stated its really only a 4yr warranty. You will find that its almost a complete 100% against getting extended warranty here. On a personal note, we did not get the extended warranty. Look after your pod, keep seals checked etc. and you will be good. Most things that go wrong do so inside the first year warranty anyway. Good luck on your purchase.

Thanks!  That's what I was thinking.  I will always to the typical yearly service and the unit will be well cared for.  I appreciate the advice.

We are about the same as Ron, 2011 177 owner.  We were offered a similar warranty when we made our purchase but declined.  No regrets as we have not had any issues to complain about.  The only problems we have had were self-inflicted by ME.  Save your $$ and spend it on something that you will enjoy or save it for a rainy day.

Well, I bought and about to find out if it's worth a darn!

I have a fractured frame! With wheel camber still looking decent and reduced axle curve down to 1/8"..
Have no clue how the heck 'I' did this...

If covered, well worth the money spent!
If not, well... you know..

First the question is whether you need an extended warranty.  There are opinions for either.  I will not weigh in here.  However if you decide on it the price your were quoted is very high.  We got a 6 year quote when we bought our POD three years ago for $933 and two yeas ago r for our Passport for $1472.  Both are from a company called Protective Asset protection Platninum plan.  Deductabe $100 but only $50 at the dealer you purchased from.  You can buy extended warrantys from anyone after the purchase.  No need for the dealer and they should negotiate. I would offer $1500 take it or leave it for six years

I purchased the Extended Warranty and anything that ever needs to be fixed on the trailer is never covered by the warranty, there's always an exclusion.  Not worth the money I paid for it.

That was my opinion and why I avoided purchasing an extended warranty. The one vehicle where it was worthwhile was a 2006 Ford out of Focus. It spent enough time in the shop for various items that the rental car coverage part was prepaid in the cost of the warranty.

In my specific experience, the extended warranty paid off. But... I didn't pay $2500 for it as the OP mention as his cost..

Was yours the one year extended warranty Forest River used to offer? I did not get that one either. I certainly wouldn't have paid $2500 for one that as the OP mentioned, would have had so many limitations and exclusions as to be essentially worthless.
