    Posted: 09 Oct 2018 at 7:55am
Went on a weekend trip this last weekend, connected my R-Pod 180 to city water and later that day my wife noticed water trickling out of the fill cap for the fresh water holding tank. I removed the cap and a bit of water flowed out. It seems when I use the city water hook up for some odd reason its also fill up my main fresh water holding tank. Is this normal, to me it does not seem normal. I looked for a valve I may have to turn but did not find one. Is there a check valve located somewhere that may have been faulty, any ideas?

A very common problem caused by the check valve in the water pump  malfunctioning. It will also cause the pump to cycle at night even when no water is being used if you're not on city water. Sometimes this can be caused by some grit or dirt stuck in the valve. Try this: Disconnect city water and cycle the pump several times by turning a faucet on an off. Each time let the faucet run a few seconds then turn it off and let the pump catch up and stop running. Do this several times to flush out dirt stuck in the check valve. If this doesn't resolve the issue the check valve should be replaced. A simple job and the parts are inexpensive.

No it is not normal, but is common. Issue is usually debris preventing check valve in water pump to fully close and isolate the FW tank from city water. It sometimes can be fixed by running pump and turning water in sink on and off. Cycling the pump. Mine was not a debris issue and I ended up changing the water pump which fixed problem. Try the cycling water with pump first. To see if it works take cap off FW drain and hook up city water, water comes out it is NOT fixed.

Just happened to me and the cycling did not work. Ordered the check valve Shurflo 9480003 valve and replaced in the pump. Ordered a new pump put quick disconnect connections on the wires and am using the old pump as a backup. Everything works great now.

Thanks for the information, I knew I could count on all you for the awesome fixes. Unfortunately I will have to wait until spring since I just winterized my pod. This will be the first thing on my list once I open my pod back up, and I am already counting the days until opening day!!!
