Hi all,
We are upgrading to a Rpod 179 from a Chalet Arrowhead, and a Toyota Tacoma from a Toyota Rav 4 this weekend.  We have break assist for the Rav, but would a brake assist be needed for the Tacoma?   What do you guys think?

If by brake assist you mean an electric brake controller then yes you need one. The rPods have electric brakes and in most if not all states you have to have brakes on any trailers > 3000 lbs.  And even if they weren't required you want them.

If you don't want to buy a new brake controller, depending on what you have you ought to be able to move your brake controller over to the Taco from the Rav.

Definitely need a brake controller for a 179, most state require that if the trailer has electric brakes you must use them.

If it's a recent vintage of Tacoma with the V6, you should have the 7-pin Bargman already installed. You will probably need a harness of some sort to hook up the brake controller. Yes. You need it.
