Dear Rpod Folks,
We just purchased our first RPod 179. Took it out today and the MAIN POWER LINE from Trailer to Toyota 4 runner- 7 prong- keeps falling out.
ANY IDEAS?
Desperate as service is closed at Bob scott in Grand Junction Colorado.

Make sure it's all the way in in the correct orientation.  Make sure the trailer lights work as they should.  The cover on the receptacle on the vehicle is supposed to snap over a protrusion on the top of the trailer plug, locking the plug in.  Push the plug in until cover snaps over that protrusion.  You shouldn't be able to pull it back out without holding up the cover.

If you're doing all that. then you could plug it in and tape it in place with some Gorilla or electrical tape until you can get some better help.

I drive an 18 wheeler and when I have an issue with my pigtail, the male part you plug in I use some kind of shim under the bottom to help give it a tighter fit. Believe it or not if I cannot find anything to use I fold up a piece of paper and yes it even works in the rain. But the flap that covers the female part on your vehicle should have a little clip on it, that may have broken off. Make sure your pigtail is pushed all the way in. You may have to wiggle it back and fourth to get it to seat properly.

You could also try a small bungee cord wrapped around the cord and cover to help make sure the cover does not work its way up while you are traveling down the road.

I did this between the time I ground down the plug on the pavement after it fell out, and I installed a new socket on our TV.

Anybody see a match with this post from Tony RPod 180:

The factory trailer connection receptacle and bracket on the Toyota 4Runners makes no sense. It is located under the rear cargo compartment.
I was tired of laying on the ground to plug in my trailer connector and also it kept coming disconnected while I was towing so I installed this bracket on my 2018 4Runner. You can use the factory mounting holes where the original bracket was installed. I also added two 1” spacers to locate the bracket below the bumper, there is just enough harness length also(had to remove clip from frame rail) I also drilled a new hole in the bracket so it would be parallel to the bumper. I ordered the bracket from etrailer.com for about $8-9

Interesting they are both Toyota 4 Runners.

Laura,

Use the search. Search by member and type Tony rpod 180. You will find a post with pics, you can PM Tony. He's the member you want to talk to. Let me know if that's not working for you.
