Yes, in the South we need both air and heat. I'm curious now on whether the Dometic roof air is as loud as a jet engine or only as loud as a lawnmower. Either way its for sure much more efficient at generating decibels than btu's.  As soon as I can find where I put my dB meter I'll go measure it.

Our 'hole' from where the A/C was supposed to be was replaced with a vent from the factory, like the fantastic fan, except for no fan;  you can manually open the vent and allow air flow, so we have 2 vents in the roof and a lot of additional light entering as a result.

In the mid south I have never used my furnace. I use appropriate bedding and a cube heater when practical. I have used AC but only when conditions for the pets demanded it, otherwise we camp on.

We have used our furnace extensively, especially when we were staying in the 'Pod in 4F temps with a significant wind chill. I don't think a block heater would have been sufficient. We went through a lot of propane on that trip. Since we camp in both the southern summers and northern winters, both AC and furnace have had plenty of use. I would not want to be without either one.

I would rather eliminate the AC than have the jet engine sound when it is running.  I just don't use it.

I installed a Wave 3 heater, along with a T in the propane line to the stove and quick disconnect, for heat in our Pod.  My reason was to reduce the battery draw during boondocking.  The Wave 3 heater works well for us.

I very much like the idea of another skylight/vent in place of the AC as shown by other owners.

When I lived in south Florida seldom used the AC in camper didn't use it that much in my motor vehicle or at home. I spent a lot of time outside the heat did not bother me that much, I always enjoyed fans though and a breeze and some shade. Most of my years the schools I attended were without AC that was in south Florida the schools had fans and open windows. But! when it is below 60 degrees I like having some heat to keep warm. Smile
