Hi Folks,

My wife and I are going to be purchasing a RPOD 178 in the coming weeks. I found a new 2017 that seems to be the same as the 2018 model. I would save a couple thousand buckaroos, and wondered if there was any real difference between the 2017 and 2018?

We are new to the forum and recently sold our Aliner. We loved our Aliner, but hated the set up in rainy or windy conditions. The Aliner forum was extremely helpful, and I look forward to learning from you all how to use and improve our RPOD.

Thanks in advance

I always like saving a couple grand if possible. If the 2017 has 15 inch tires on it, it's the same as the 2018, and might as well save the cash, so you can pay for the EMS and whatever else you fancy

I also think they are pretty much the same, I bought a lightly used 178 and saved several thousand, only disadvantage was I did not get a warranty.

Technically there is no such thing as a 2017 or 2018 as there are with cars.  So some people have a 2017 that is green and some have the blue ones.  Forest River does not label their invoice with a year.  It is the dealers that use the year convention.  However since changes can even be made mid year that is why you will see 2017, 2017.5 and 2018.  What color is the 2017? If it is the blue/grey combination it is a later 2017.  If Green it is an earlier 2017.  If it is blue/blue it was made in June 2016 (they only did this once). There really are very minor differences.  They changed the brand of vent fan and stereo as examples.  So if you can save thousands on a 2017 go for it, there certainly is not thousands of dollars of difference, more like $50.
