Hi everyone, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Craig and my wife Laura just bought our first R-Pod 189, 2018. We haven't taken possession of it yet, that will be in March 2018. We had a 1996 Jayco popup prior but while walking around one of the campgrounds, we spotted an R-Pod and were very intrigued. I began my research on R-Pods and now I can't wait for spring to get here.
This forum is fantastic. Lots of information. I find myself just sitting and reading post after post. The instruction & maintenance manual thread has so much information. Thanks to everyone that participated in that. And thanks to everyone that responded to my anti sway hitch question. That helped me educate myself on what I needed and avoid some cost from the dealer. We live in Macedon, NY (that's near Rochester) and we're probably going to have snow soon. Another reason I can't wait for spring. I'll be looking at the campground recommendations in this general area to see what all of you liked.

Welcome and Congratulations! As a child, I really enjoyed our family trips to the Thousand Islands. New York has some wonderful state parks. I think you will have fun exploring them.

I just purchased a 189 myself, but won't pick it up for another month. My wife and I are new to TT, and she is apprehensive. How is the 189 working for you? Any issues so far--I really like the floor plan. We have planned a major trip, so I need to be as prepared as possible.

Welcome and congrats on your 189! Can you say a bit more about what your wife is concerned about? Are you already campers or is this new to her? I don't want to pry, just wondering generally what her experience is (and what her worries are) so maybe we can help dispel some of them and help you both have happy travels.

Her parents bought a TT 30 years ago, and have used it less than 10 nights. We do about four weeks of travel each year thru timeshares--I think she enjoys getting somewhere quickly, enjoying the week and then coming home. My guess is that she doesn't really know what camping will be like, but she's concerned we'll buy the trailer and never use it.

I can see why she might be concerned given that record. OTOH, sounds like they kept their TT so maybe they're enjoying having it (none of my business of course, just musing!). Anyway ... sounds like you just need to be sure you go camping a lot :-)
